For those looking for sweeping meadow views, proximity to Zion National Park, rich natural history and luxury ranch accommodations, Zion Mountain Ranch is the place.

Luxury Western Ranch

With only 52 cabins on a sprawling 2,700-acre property, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the landscape. Guests can cozy up on a cabin porch swing and watch the herd of buffalo grazing in the meadow or take in the vistas while dining at the on-property Buffalo Grill.

This Western ranch resort provides visitors with a relaxing yet adventurous vacation in Utah. The area is rich in history and is home to Indian Knoll, a tree-topped hill where ancient Native American artifacts can still be found today.

Upsacle Rustic Cabins

There are various types of rustic cabins that suit the needs of each visitor--from the budget traveler to family or honeymooner.

Most cabins include the following amenities:

  • Gas fireplace
  • Coffee maker
  • Refrigerator
  • Microwave
  • TV/DVD/VCR

Most suites and lodges include:

  • Hot plate
  • Kitchenette
  • Jacuzzi tub
  • Rain shower

Hairdryers and irons are available on request. Room rates range from $120 to $495.

Wining and Dining with Buffalo

The Buffalo Grill restaurant is conveniently located on the property and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with sweeping views of the meadow.

Choose an Outdoor Activity or Relax with a Massage

This resort is outdoor activity-driven. There is no swimming pool or hot tub, no workout room and no business center. But who needs those things when you have most any kind of outdoor activity available in the immediate area–such as horseback riding (on property), off-roading, mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoneering or hiking in Zion National Park.

For those who want to relax after a strenuous day taking advantage of adventure sports, the resort does have a certified massage therapist that is available for private massages by appointment.

Family Fun

• The ranch does offer a "Family Adventure Package" that includes 3 nights accommodation, breakfast for 3 days, and 3 one-hour horseback rides for $550.

• There is a Family Lodge available that sleeps up to 10 people and has a full kitchen and washer/dryer.

• Free DVD/VCR movies are available to check out in the general store.

• Horseback rides for those under age 7 are available in the horse arena. Older kids can do a ride through the local terrain with a guide. Sign up at the general store.

Bonus Amenities

• Free wireless access is available, although it can be spotty at times.

• For information about the resort and the area in general, check the Web site at http://www.zionmountainresort.com. There are great maps of the area and suggested itineraries for making the most of your visit.

• If the weather is nice (not windy) the ranch will host a nightly campfire, which usually includes the fixins for s'mores.

• The ranch is available for weddings or private parties.

• There is a small and large general store on the property selling limited snack items, necessities and souvenirs.

Word to the Wise

• For those who can't live a day without checking e-mail, there is a free computer in the general store. However, it doesn't offer much privacy since it's right next to the cash register.

• Cell phone coverage can be spotty.

• There is no lobby or place to relax/congregate other than the cabins.

• There are few amenities in the area such as restaurants, souvenir shops, gas stations. That is what makes this resort special and unique, but something to be aware of. The closest town is Springdale, accessible through the South Gate of Zion National Park.
