With 360 degree views of red rock formations jetting into the sky, Sorrel River Ranch Resort is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the scenery.

Million-Dollar View

Situated on the bank of the Colorado River, guest rooms offer a mountain or river view–or both. With only 55 rooms, the ranch is quaint yet still offers all the amenities you'd expect at a larger resort. For ultimate relaxation, each room comes with a porch swing or rocking chair on the porch to view the breathtaking landscape.

Luxury Rustic Cabins

The ranch theme is reflected in the décor with iron horse towel racks, wooden bed posts and Southwestern artwork.

Most rooms include the following:

  • Mini refrigerator
  • Microwave
  • Iron
  • Hairdryer
  • TV

Some rooms come with an electric fireplace and kitchenette (complete with dishes). Room rates start at $199 and vary depending on the season and availability.

Fine Dining

The ranch has a restaurant on the property called the River Grill. Guests can dine on fine food while taking in the spectacular view of the changing colors of landscape. The outdoor balcony allows diners to get even closer to nature.

A free continental breakfast is included and features fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, toast and other selections. Menu items, such as pancakes, are also available.

This resort only has live music on special occasions.

Enjoy Horseback Riding or a Trip to the Spa

For those wanting to relax, the ranch has a full-service spa with specialties like the "Ranch Hand Manicure" or the "Hikers Haven" foot massage. For a complete list of treatments available, visit http://www.sorrelriver.com.

After lounging by the heated pool or taking a dip in the hot tub, guests can browse the small gift area for local jewelry, unique snacks or souvenirs. For guests wanting a more active vacation, the concierge is happy to assist in making reservations for activities such as horseback riding (on location), river rafter, off-roading, mountain biking or hiking. The property also has tennis courts, a basketball court and a workout room.

Family Fun

For accommodation, families can opt for a "family suite" that sleeps six and includes one king size bed downstairs with a full kitchen and two queen size beds upstairs. There is also a play structure near the lodge for younger children to enjoy. A coin-operated washer and dryer are also available. Pets are allowed in some rooms.

Word to the Wise

  • The ranch is located in a remote location, about 17 miles from downtown Moab. It can take more than a half hour to get to town.
  • Since the resort is in Utah, liquor laws can be strict. Therefore, there is no bar–alcohol is only served in the restaurant.
  • There is no general store to purchase forgotten items, grab a treat or pick up film.
  • Although the cell phone reception is spotty, the ranch does have a business station with Internet access on two computers and a printer set up. Wireless Internet service is $12.50 per day.

Activities in the Area

Sorrel River Ranch is in close proximity to Arches National Park, Moab and Canyonlands National Park.
